AS an environmental champion, I have this year expressed concern about the vandalised appearance of the pathway leading from Alston Road to Heath Gardens in Silhill Ward. Thus I’m delighted with the positive reply from Solihull Council’s environment supervisor Liz Quiney.

This confirms that on July 6 and 7 a joint initiative between council and unpaid workforce (offenders?) was due to greatly improve that unpleasant alleyway.

She will also contact residents on the feasibility of improving the lighting in this potentially dangerous gulley.

In addition Liz is co-operating with local police to deter a few thoughtless householders in Cornyx Lane and Damson Lane from parking their vehicles on and damaging council-owned grass verges, or unduly obstructing pavements.

She will also get graffiti again removed from the pedestrian subway beneath Solihull Bypass. I implore parents of delinquent children to more firmly supervise and guide their wayward offspring.
