A TALENTED 11-year-old has been awarded an organ scholarship by Solihull School.

Phil Blenkinsop, right, is the first recipient to train on the school's 40-year-old chapel organ since its £220,000 rebuild earlier this year.

Phil achieved the highest mark in his Grade 4 organ exam at Dorridge Music School after playing an electric organ for just six months.

Director of music at Solihull School, Stephen Perrins recommended Phil for a scholarship because of his impressive natural musicianship and ability. "Although he hasn't really played the church organ, Phil is desperate to learn and his performance on the chapel organ at the scholarships convinced me of his potential and promise."

Solihull school is offering an organ scholarship for 2009, for further information contact Stephen Perrins on 0121 705 0958.
