HUNDREDS of eager shoppers braved the bad weather to visit Acocks Green’s first ever farmer’s market.
Many market stall holders sold out as crowds descended to buy fresh crusty bread, local cheeses and meats and flavoured honeys at the event on Saturday June 16. Visitors could even watch their honey being made at the market’s very own bee hive.
At the other end of the town, the crowds were dancing in the streets to King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, who followed an impromptu performance by local singer and Elvis impersonator, Paul Shakespeare.
Local business Dazzle put on a fashion show while Anthony Brennan’s Tai Kwon Do team wowed with a wood-chopping demonstration.
BID Manager Sandy Gianni, who put the day together, said: “We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout. The level of support was beyond expectations.”
The next farmer’s market is scheduled for July 21.
