I NOTE Simon Goddard (Letters, July 26) is using the standard Tory ploy of ignoring the precise point I raised, addressing another topic entirely and slipping in a little personal abuse along the way.
How is it ‘mud slinging’ to simply question why someone who wishes to represent Solihull in the House of Commons has failed to square her much-vaunted commitment to preserving the borough’s green spaces with her failure to criticise Tory attacks upon Tudor Grange and Shirley Park?
Of course I am aware of Ms Throup’s involvement in the service station and airport runway campaigns, which was no doubt a crucial factor in her becoming a parliamentary candidate. However, local notoriety is a poor substitute for independent thought and integrity.
Steve Green, Solihull.
