I AM writing to support the campaign opposing the closure of our post offices and in particular those in the Solihull borough.
It has been stated that nationally over 2,000 post offices in the UK may be forced to close. If this is so then it is a national disgrace and our present government is condemned for allowing it to happen.
There are disquieting reports that the EU is behind these proposed closures. Whether this is true or not, people should not have to suffer the inconvenience and problems that these closures will bring. People, whether living in town or country, are very dependent on the facilities and services that the post office provides and will suffer extreme inconvenience and problems if their local post office is forced to close.
This is particularly so for the elderly and infirm who would be forced to undergo this extra burden.
The local post office is a lifeline for many people, particularly the elderly and infirm. It will be a diabolical disgrace if this lifeline is broken. Please support the campaign to save borough post offices by writing to 'Freepost, Consultation Team, Post Office Ltd'.
