It's about time

WITH reference to the proposed change of hours at St Alphege Junior School, what a great idea, bringing them in line with the rest of the borough, it’s about time.

WITH reference to the proposed change of hours at St Alphege Junior School, what a great idea, bringing them in line with the rest of the borough, it’s about time.

It is a shame that the parents who started a petition to stop the change don’t realise that it is their children who are currently suffering.

I was asked to sign the petition, but refused as some of the parents who started complaining won’t even have children at the school next academic year and have no qualms about removing their children early from the school day, either for tennis lessons or going on holiday before the end of term, to save a few pounds.

How hypocritical, they are probably the type of parents who then put their children in kids club once on holiday, rather than want to spend that all important quality parent/child time that seems to be lacking in society today.

They are obviously only thinking of their own financial encumbrance and not the fact that currently their children are missing out on other areas of education not gained during lesson time, such as extra curriculum activities after school due to time constraints, especially in the winter with the days being shorter.

The academic side will, from what I can ascertain, remain the same, which after having had several children go through the juniors and one still there, remain as excellent as ever.

Come on you whingers, think of your kids for a change not yourselves! And so you’re aware, both I and my wife work full time as well, so don’t use that as an excuse.
