BINGO clubs across the land are joining forces to stage a massive money-raising event in support of children's mobility charity WhizzKidz.
Mecca Bingo in Acocks Green, along with 101 fellow clubs throughout the UK has chosen Whizz-Kidz as its nominated charity for 2008.
The charity is committed to giving disabled children independence- at home, at play and at school.
Mecca has pledged to raise a minimum of £250,000 for Whizz-Kidz through its clubs and on-line bingo business and have raised more than £80,000 to date.
And, as a part of the national Mecca Wheel Difference campaign, the Acocks Green club will be holding a number of events for members and staff alike to help raise money for the charity.
On August 8, the club will be holding a series of fund raising activities for staff and visitors.
Mike Sime, general manager of Mecca Acocks Green, said: "Our customers and staff have already responded magnificently to the challenge of raising money for this fantastic children's charity and we are all committed to smashing our target by the end of the year."
Ruth Owen, Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, added: "The charity is virtually 100 per cent reliant on voluntary funds so events like this are really important. With around 70,000 kids nationally in need of vital mobility equipment, everyone will know someone in their community or family that could benefit from our work"
