THE Manufacturing Advisory Service launched its latest very positive economic forecast last week.

In all 45 per cent of manufacturers say they have seen an increase in their order books over the past six months, with a massive 58 per cent expecting sales turnover to grow between now and June.

But there are still many concerns for manufacturers which we as a Chamber are hoping to identify through a new initiative we are launching.

In April we are introducing a series of sector specific groups and the first will be manufacturing.

This group will be headed up by our current president, Alan Volkaerts who is director of operations at Jaguar Land Rover. The second will be construction.

The Chamber is seen locally and nationally as the voice of business. Government thinkers and doers listen to what our members say through our Chamber policy team.

The views of our manufacturing sector group will identify issues of concern and it is these that we will be feeding through to Government.

Whether it is access to finance, how to attract young people into manufacturing, how to provide more skills, managing cash flow, seeking orders, matching competitors or handling disproportionate regulations; if these are what trouble you, then we need to know.
