CONSERVATIVE husband and wife Bob and Gail Sleigh both won seats on Solihull council in the local elections.
Bob (Bickenhill) was re-elected with a resounding 2,076 votes. His closest rival, Angela Reid (Labour) received 732 votes.
Gail was elected as councillor in Castle Bromwich with 2,328 votes.
Bob said: “My wife got more votes than me! I’m very pleased. We’ve both been working very hard - we share the same values.
“She will be very good for the people of Castle Bromwich. There’s a lot of big challenges in Bickenhill. The whole issue of development in the green belt we have to watch. We fought a good strong campaign. We had good clear messages.”
The couple join father and daughter Joe and Hannah Tildesley on the Tory bench.
