Kitchen showroom owner offers £500 for stolen laptop

A KITCHEN showroom owner is offering a £500 reward for the return of his laptop, stolen from his Solihull store.

A KITCHEN showroom owner is offering a £500 reward for the return of his laptop, stolen from his Solihull store.

Proprietor of Abacus Kitchens, Mike Kentish, said he had been designing kitchens on the company laptop on November 7 when a woman entered the Hobs Moat Road store at 4.30pm, enquiring about a display.

After spending around ten minutes chatting to her and taking her details for a home visit the woman’s phone rang and she said she was needed back at work and left.

On returning to his rear office Mr Kentish, from Shirley, discovered the laptop, containing hundreds of hours worth of design work, was gone.

The woman’s details were discovered to be false.

“It was plain the woman was to keep my attention away from the back office,” said the devastated kitchen designer.

“I have to work between our Henley-in-Arden and Solihull showrooms so I have all our designs on one laptop.

“Although the laptop itself would only fetch the thieves a few pounds, the cost to replace the laptop, design software, and lost work will be thousands of pounds at a time when no business can afford to lose money like this.”

Police have confirmed that a silver laptop had been reported as stolen from the store.

Mr Kentish is offering a £500 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the woman and her accomplice.

“I just want to get the designs back. It would mean nothing to them but when I think about the hours I’ve spent designing kitchens, for that to disappear is such a waste,” he said.

Anyone offered the silver Sony Viao laptop for sale, or with any information on the theft, should call Police on 101.
