BMW and Minio dealership, Sytner Solihull are to sponsor Solihull-based boxer Antonio Counihan in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The sponsorship deal is to assist him in meeting transportation needs for training, competitions and events. This month Sytner Solihull presented Antonio with a brand new Mini Pimlico.
Antonio has been boxing since the age of five and it all began sparring with his father Paul. Antonio has been the Midlands Counties Champion eight times, the England Great Britain Representative and the England Captain at just 18. He recently travelled to Canada to box against the Canadian Boxing Association’s national team and he won both of his bouts. Antonio travels to the headquarters in Sheffield for four days every fortnight and the Mini Pimlico will help him arrive there in style!
“We’re really grateful to Sytner Solihull and BMW and Mini for their support,” said Antonio. “It’s tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness.” He is very excited about this year, “In the next year I hope to box in as many international tournaments all over the world as I can, and win as many medals as I can, and finally go to an Olympic qualifier and qualify for the London 2012.”
