TWO of the top items sold at Bonhams fine Chinese art sale in London last week were sourced through their Knowle office.
Director Sarah Shirley-Priest, said: “Our team in Knowle contributed over £1m to the Chinese and Japanese art sales in London. Both were outstanding sales and I believe the £1m in locally sourced objects represents a record for this office in one day.”
The auction saw brisk bidding which took the sale to £11.5 million. Lots included this rare blue and white moonflask of the Qianlong period, which sold for £421,250. The piece is the only second known example found of its kind and is a remarkable 18th Century survivor.
