A CONTROVERSIAL parking scheme, which frustrated motorists in Knowle, has been scrapped.
The tough new measures banned drivers from returning to village car parks within a 24 hour period.
This mean that drivers would be penalised if they tried to park more than once in one day.
These new rules had been introduced to a number of sites around the village centre - including St John’s Close.
But a council statement posted on the internet last week confirms that the restrictions have been abandoned.
The message posted by the Knowle Society explained that all signs would be amended by Monday (January 25) at the latest.
No-one had been issued with a ticket under the new rules, but they had angered a number of residents.
Coun Ted Richards, cabinet member for transport and highways, said: “We appreciate the feedback we have had on the signs, and have clarified our legal position. We have removed the “no return on same day” condition from the signs, and people will be able to return to the car park should they wish.”
