A KNOWLE man has admitted stealing hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery from his mother and sister to pay for cocaine.

A KNOWLE man has admitted stealing hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery from his mother and sister to pay for cocaine.

Thomas Smith stole his mum’s gold wedding ring, eternity ring and engagement ring and several other items of ‘sentimental value’ at their home in Hampton Road, between July 1 and November 15, Solihull Magistrates Court heard.

The 26-year-old also took two gold and diamond necklaces from his sister in the same period, all to help pay off drug debts worth several thousands of pounds.

Smith told the court: “I do owe money and it’s for drugs. They always know where you are.

“I had a job, I was using cocaine. After I lost my job they kept giving me cocaine so I would owe them.”

Smith, now of Badgers Bank Road, Sutton Coldfield, was bailed to appear back at Solihull Magistrates on December 21 for sentencing.
