AN intrepid pet that made its escape down a car air vent had to be rescued by mechanics.
Nilesh and Heena Parmar, from Solihull, had bought a dwarf hamster for their two young children.
But when six-year-old Jayani and Yuvraj, aged three, decided to take Lily to see their grandparents, disaster struck.
The rodent had vanished from its cage, slipped down a vent and got trapped beneath the car floor.
So the family drove to Kwik Fit, in Sheldon, in the hope that the team could save the day.
After 90 minutes taking the floor apart, Lily was freed from beneath the Volkswagen Golf.
And as a gesture of good-will, the garage refused to charge for the mission of mercy.
