ORGANISERS of the Knowle Fun Run are looking for a last minute surge in entries and are concerned that runners will miss the vital deadline for online entry into this year’s event – Saturday, May 7.
The five mile fundraiser - with two laps on traffic free roads and two mini runs for the under nines - is one of the area’s best-known events.
While the run is not until May 13, Knowle and Dorridge Lions have to close entries early, sold out or not, to ensure they receive the runners timing chips and numbers in time. There is no entry on the day.
This year, BBC Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes get the runners underway and present the prizes, with chosen charities the Alzheimer’s Society, Crossroads Care (Solihull & Birmingham), Dorridge & Knowle Scouts as well as local causes standing to benefit.
“Now we close the course to traffic for the two hours of the event we have found the huge crowds who line the roads create a fantastic atmosphere,” said organiser Lion Adrian Harris.
