Lauren aims for the stars

WHEN Lauren Pryke posted a video on Youtube, she had no idea that it would be spotted by a local talent agency.

Earlier this year, the 16-year-old singer had uploaded a clip of her singing a ballad that she’d written herself.

It wasn’t long before the video caught the attentions of The Street Project - a Black Country entertainment company.

Now Lauren, from Chelmsley Wood, has signed a record contract and will start work on her first album next month.

“I couldn’t believe it when they got in touch - I didn’t understand why they liked my song so much,” she said.

“It’s incredible to have signed a deal and I’m looking forward to going into the studio and working on my music.”

Lauren said that she’d always been interested in performing and had started guitar lessons when she was ten-years-old.

She started writing her own songs earlier this year and decided to post a video of her favourite “Stephanie” on the internet.

Little did she know that it would cause such a stir and after several meetings, Lauren signed on the dotted line.

Daniel Perry, who owns Street Project, said that he was very excited to have signed a deal with the teenager.

“I’ve being showcasing her track to many counterparts who also feel that Lauren could be the next Pixie Lott or Ke$ha.”

Having taken her GSCEs, the former Park Hall pupil has now gone on to study at the prestigious Birmingham Academy of Music.
