LORD Sugar take note – in few years’ time pupils from Ruckleigh School will be taking the hit TV programme “The Apprentice” by storm after being inspired to become business leaders of tomorrow!
Following the donation of a Leadership Cup to the school (to be annually presented at the school’s Speech Day), Year Six pupils have attended a full day’s training seminar focusing upon the importance of leadership. Dressed in smart business clothing, pupils discussed the qualities a good leader needs to have – such as time management and organisational and people skills.
During the second half of the training day, pupils split into teams and worked to a tight deadline on a project to brand, design and market a bar of soap, with all teams making a sales presentation about their soap brand.
Prizes for individual leadership skills were presented on the day but the Headmistress has still to announce who will be the first Ruckleigh pupil to be awarded the Leadership Cup which was donated to the school by the Gain family.
Headmistress Barbara Forster said: “The children had a fantastic day experiencing their first taste of business, developing their self-confidence and learning about the importance of leadership in their lives.
“Our Year Six pupils will be leaving Ruckleigh this summer to start at secondary schools in the autumn and I’m confident that with the skills they have learnt during the leadership seminar will really help them to adapt and flourish in their new schools.”
