Learning disability charity awarded IIP bronze status

SOLIHULL Life Opportunities (SoLO) – a charity helping people with learning disabilities – has been handed a top award.

SOLIHULL Life Opportunities (SoLO) – a charity helping people with learning disabilities – has been handed a top award.

The organization, based in Chelmsley Wood, has been awarded ‘bronze status’ by Investors In People (IIP).

The honour was presented to SoLO at a ceremony, at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, last month.

Out of the 28,000 who have received the Investors in People kitemark, SoLO falls within the first 250 to receive the additional accreditation.

Jan Prior, chairman, said: “It is a great feeling to see the work that is carried out throughout SoLO to invest in our people – who are our greatest asset – recognized at such a level in a national arena.

“It is also of note that of the 250 organizations awarded this additional accreditation, SoLO is among only 10 charities – many of which are national – so this is indeed a great achievement.”

Janet Down, chief executive, said: “SoLO have always recognized the value our people bring to the work we do, and it is only right we treat them with respect, and invest in them our time and support while providing chances to develop.”
