THE Solihull branch of the RNLI have launched a new campaign - to buy lifejackets for the lifesavers.

THE Solihull branch of the RNLI have launched a new campaign - to buy lifejackets for the lifesavers.

The big hearted fund raisers - who support the Abersoch-based inshore lifeboat ‘Margaret Bench of Solihull’ - aim to raise £2,000 to buy six jackets for the boat’s crew.

The boat, paid-for by a bequest from Solihull resident Margaret Bench, replaced the publicly funded lifeboat The Borough of Solihull, and in 2010-11 was launched 56 times rescuing over 70 people who had got into difficulties at sea.

The fund raisers have written to local primary schools asking them to get onboard with the fund raising and if anyone wishes to make a donation they can do so via the Solihull News office at 150 High Street, Solihull, B91 3SX.
