Lions sponsor first Christmas light in Shirley

SHIRLEY Lions have become the first official sponsors of Shirley’s new Christmas lights.

SHIRLEY Lions have become the first official sponsors of Shirley’s new Christmas lights. They were also the ones who came up with the idea when they heard that the Partnership were looking for sponsors and the Partnership took the idea on board!

Ken Barker and Phil Rippington from the Lions Club joined second sponsor David Crawford from Shirley-based Success Property & Construction Ltd to see the new lights before they go up in a few weeks time.

Jim Ferry, Chair of Shirley Town Centre Partnership, said: “There has been some real interest in the Christmas light sponsorship. For £200 sponsors receive a sign on their lamppost, feature on the Christmas tree banner and in the local Shop in Shirley magazine. It’s a great way to get involved in the community. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored so far.”

Residents can also contribute towards the lights or you can support with any amount by sending a cheque made payable to Shirley Town Centre Partnership, Council House, Manor Square Solihull, West Midlands, B91 3QB and put “Christmas Lights” on the back of the cheque. You can even pop into the Shirley Branch of Barclays on Stratford Road or donate online with sort code: 207762 Account Number:10654043.
