The donation was part of £36,000 raised by the Sporting Bears Motor Club during their Dream Rides event held at the NEC last November.
Dream Rides allows guests a ride in a club member’s vintage, sports or performance car in exchange for a charitable donation.
The significant sum raised has now been split between children’s charities including £8,250 to Zoe’s Place in Coventry, who provide respite, palliative and end of life care to babies with life-limiting illnesses.
Fund-raising manager Kelvin Green said: “We only survive because of the generosity of the public, we get no government funding and this donation will help us to buy equipment which otherwise we couldn’t possibly have afforded.”
Zoe’s Place has now bought a baby resuscitation training doll, an oxygen humidifier, a couple of oxygen concentrators and a syringe pump with the vital funds.
Ian Snelling of Sporting Bears added: “Sporting Bears was delighted to be able to present the magnificent donation of £8,250 to the new baby hospice Zoe’s Place.”
