RACIST graffiti was scrawled on cars and garage doors after a series of early morning disturbances in Hillfields last weekend.
Residents woke up on Sunday morning to find National Front slogans spray-painted on their cars as well as other offensive comments.
One garage door on Maybridge Drive was covered in obscene racist messages while cars on neighbouring Widney Lane and Glaston Drive were also targeted.
Richard Chillcott, the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator in the area described the actions as ‘pathetic’ and ‘cowardly’.
“The nature of the graffiti was extremely offensive and I feel for the people who were affected,” he said.
“No-one wants to see this type of behaviour in their area, espcially the messages that were left.”
It is still unclear who is responsible for the far right-wing messages.
One resident who wished to remain anonymous, called the culprits ‘low life idiots’ after their family car was targeted.
“My husband had to use a special chemical to remove a large ‘NF’ symbol from our car but I know some people were worried that it would not come off,” she said.
“I know they left graffiti on cars in Widney Lane as well but we just removed it off our car because we don’t want to give them the satisfaction.”
A police spokesperson confirmed there had been two reports of racist graffiti.
“We can confirm a criminal damage hate incident which involved the letters ‘NF’,” they said.
“We are also looking into other reports of criminal damage to garage doors.”
