TUDOR Grange Leisure Centre has once again been subject to a theft from the lockers.
A member of the centre is furious after his belongings were stolen while he was in the gym last weeek.
Peter Wilson, from Shirley, says his mobile phone, wallet, bus pass and £50 cash were taken from his locker in the changing rooms within the space of an hour.
The padlock on the locker was broken with all his items nowhere to be seen.
Peter, a 50-year-old postman pays £24 a month for his discounted membership with the centre for which he says he expectes some security for his belongings in the changing rooms.
“There are no proper security measures in place to prevent these sort of incidents from occuring. I’m thinking twice about going back now as I will constantly be worried about my belongings in the locker or end up carrying my things around with me.”
Centre Manager at Tudor Grange, Simon James is adamant that there are already enough security measures in place and that this case in particular was just a one-off.
“There are a ramge of services available for members to ensure their safety of their belongings. This is the first incident of its kind in six months so we should be commending the fact that security and staff at the centre are doing their utmost to ensure the safety of members and their items.”
A police enquiry is ongoing but CCTV footage does not lead to any suspects. Mr Wilson has not been offered any incentive or compensation from Tudor Grange Leisure centre.
