A LONDON man has denied stealing a 98-year-old woman’s purse as she shopped in a Solihull supermarket last week.
Police received reports at around 1pm on Thursday December 6, that a woman had her purse pinched at Morrisons, in Solihull.
Francis Maughan, 27, of Bownes Green, London was arrested later that day after one of the victim’s bank cards was used at a shop in Touchwood. Maughan admitted three counts of theft, possession of cannabis and failing to provide a sample for a drugs test.
But he denied stealing the purse and was committed to Birmingham Crown Court on March 20 for trial.
