A DAMSON Park teenager will finally get her wish in April when she lines up in the London Marathon.

A DAMSON Park teenager will finally get her wish in April when she lines up in the London Marathon.

For years May Chick has been determined to test her stamina in the challenging 26-mile circuit but she had to wait until she was 18.

Now ready to go, the King Edward VI Camp Hill School student has been training hard for the past three months.

“For a long time I have wanted to do this and I’m happy to have secured a place,” she said.

“Training is going according to schedule and last weekend I did a 13-mile run around Solihull in just under two hours. My feet were sore afterwards.”

The 18-year-old will one of thousands taking part. A total of 34,000 competitors completed the 2008 event – and May will be happy to add her name to the 2009 list.

“I now need to turn my attention to fundraising. My grandmother suffers from Parkinson’s so I am running in aid of the Parkinson’s Disease Society.”

May who is also training at Virgin Active gym has pledged to raise £1,700 for the charity.
