A SOLIHULL school chef has won the national title of 2011 School Chef of the Year.
Louise Witterick, who works at Chapel Fields Junior School in Solihull, won the regional heat of the contest back in February this year, and went on to scoop the coveted culinary award after triumphing at the national finals at University College, Birmingham.
Louise, from Shirley, fought off stiff competition from other regional finalists from around the UK by preparing a winning meal which consisted of a main course of Beef Stifado with a trio of Root Vegetables, Minted Spinach and Broccoli, and a dessert of Spicy Butternut Squash Tart served with Hot Creme Anglaise.
The 41-year-old was duly crowned the winner on Thursday.
She said: “I feel elated, it hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m just over the moon.
“Winning this will hopefully reassure parents that we produce high-quality, well balanced and healthy meals for their children.”
