A BIKER had a very lucky escape when he fell from his machine after it collided head-on with a Lexus saloon at Chadwick End last Tuesday evening.

Solihull and Hay Mills fire crews were called to Warwick Road at about 8pm, to find that the motor-cyclist got away with nothing more than an injured elbow.

Crew Commander Bryan Matthews, based at Hay Mills, told the Solihull Times: "He was a very lucky boy. He came off his machine and his bike was split in two.

"I have never seen anything like it before. The bike ended up about 50 yards up the road.

"He was so lucky - I told him to put some lottery numbers on!"

The car driver was unhurt. Firecrews cleared debris and washed away fuel to ensure that the road surface was safe.
