M40 accident leads to the death of horse

A HORSE was killed and another injured after their transporter flipped over on the M40 in Warwickshire.

A HORSE was killed and another injured after their transporter flipped over on the M40 in Warwickshire.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway - near Henley-in-Arden and Claverdon.

When its box overturned, the animal was able to escape, but found itself at the mercy of oncoming traffic.

It collided with two vehicles and although a vet attended the scene, it had received fatal injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “One of the two horses had got onto the motorway and had been in collision with two vehicles, a Saab car and a white box van.

“Tragically, the horse was confirmed dead.”

The van and car drivers escaped the crash unscathed. Long delays followed the accident, which happened at around 8.30pm.
