ST Michael's Church in Solihull has established a link with the parish of Jali in Malawi.
The aim of the link, which is part of the continuing partner-ship between the Dioceses of Birmingham and Malawi, is to widen the church's horizons and strengthen links overseas.
Jali, which is near the old capital of Zomba, has 13 outstations and the new vicar Father Eston joined the parish in June this year. He is keen to enliven the church focusing on evangelism and social programmes, including a feeding programme for children of disadvantaged families.
Roger and Margaret Buxton from St Michael's, went on a visit to Malawi in July and were also able to go to the World Vision project at Namachete, which is in the parish.
St Michael's Church sponsors Dalitso, a 12-year old boy within the project, and Roger and Margaret were able to take, with the assistance of local World Vision staff, gifts of blankets and clothing purchased locally for Dalitso and his family.
