A MAN caught growing cannabis with a potential street value of £7,000 has insisted it was all for personal use.

A MAN caught growing cannabis with a potential street value of £7,000 has insisted it was all for personal use.

Police discovered 1.32kg of the Class B drug during a raid on Mark Taylor’s rented property in Kingfisher Drive, Smith’s Wood on February 7.

Officers found two rooms of the dwelling had been turned over to growing the plants while a third was being used to dry the leaves.

Malcolm Stoddart, prosecuting, said: “It is a significant quantity of drugs being produced for commercial use.”

But the court heard that while the 32-year-old had pleaded guilty to production of cannabis, he had told officers it was solely for himself.

Taylor was unconditionally bailed to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on May 9, for sentencing.
