A WOULD-be robber, clutching a claw hammer, threatened staff at a Marston Green corner shop last month.

The masked man walked into Northfield Convenience Store on June 19 and ordered the shop assistant to open the till.

As he was shouting instructions, his face covering slipped and he fled the scene - but not before smashing the glass on the door with the hammer.

The man is described as white between 20 and 25-years-old and around 5ft 10ins tall. He wore a black or blue sports type jacket, dark jogging bottoms and spoke with a local accent. The hood of his jacket was up and he had a plain black handkerchief over his mouth and nose.

The attempted robbery happened around 2.25pm in the afternoon. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Anyone with information should call Force CID in Solihull on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
