A CHELMSLEY Wood man has denied smashing a glass panel in his ex-partner’s door following an argument.

Darren Nicholls of Keele House, Forth Drive, had allegedly punched through the panel, worth £200, in the early hours of December 4.

But Marcia Blake, defending, said the 28-year-old had broken the pane by accident, as he tried to protect himself.

“He had been asked to leave the premises. He was leaving as she shut the door on him.

“He put his arm up to protect himself from being hit by the door.”

Nicholls was bailed to appear back at Solihull Magistrates Court on February 8 for the trial.
