Man quizzed over murder in Green

POLICE were yesterday questioning a man in connection with a murder in Acocks Green.

POLICE were yesterday questioning a man in connection with a murder in Acocks Green.

A 45-year-old man, suffered a stab wound to the back in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

West Midlands Police said that a 37-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident and was helping police with their enquiries.

The attack happened at around 1.45am in Gospel Lane. The victim was taken to Heartlands Hospital, but died at shortly before 4pm.

He had not been named as the Solihull News went to press.

A post-mortem was due to take place yesterday and family liaison officers were with the man’s loved ones.

The investigation is on-going and officers are appealing for anyone who might have been in Gospel Lane at the time of the attack to come forward.

Det Insp Tom Chisholm said: “Police have carried out forensic enquiries at the scene and will be doing house to house enquiries and checking CCTV.”
