A shoplifter has been recalled to prison for stealing Calpol and chocolate from a store.

Neil Shirley, of Birmingham Truck Stop, Wharf Road, Tyseley, was caught on CCTV placing the goods, worth £22.60, in his pocket at the Co-Op Widney Road, Bentley Heath on January 22.

Malcolm Stoddart, prosecuting, said the 31-year-old, who had recently been released from a 12 month custodial sentence for drug dealing, tested positive for opiates.

Shirley was recalled back to prison for 28 days for breaching parole and given 14 days custody for shoplifting, to run consecutively.
