Man sentenced for installing camera in Solihull Hospital toilet

A BLUNDERING pervert who concealed a camera in a disabled toilet at Solihull Hospital has been told to sign the sex offenders’ register.

A BLUNDERING pervert who concealed a camera in a disabled toilet at Solihull Hospital has been told to sign the sex offenders’ register.

We revealed last month that Samuel Zelenak had pleaded guilty to acts of voyeurism, after concealing the device in a cubicle in May last year.

But the 32-year-old, of Standfast Road, Bristol, accidentally filmed himself setting up the camera - which was uncovered by a sharp-eyed cleaner.

When security staff played back the footage, Zelenak’s photo ID was clearly visible and he was subsequently arrested.

First appearing in court last month, he admitted the voyeurism charges, committed while he worked as an administrator in the hospital’s pre-op unit.

Angela Hallan, prosecuting, told Solihull Magistrates last Friday that the camera had been used to take illicit images of male patients and staff.

None of those caught on camera using the toilet could be identified.

Holly Brandum, defending, said that Zelenak had been stuck in a “destructive and lonely” relationship at the time of the offences.

As well as going on the sex offenders’ register for five years, the defendant was given a three year community order and told to pay £145 costs.
