MARSTON Green’s village hall will close its doors at the end of next month, it has been confirmed.
Doubts first surfaced about the future of the venue earlier this year, after it emerged that £90,000 repairs were needed to the roof.
Facing the formidable costs and with dwindling numbers using the building in Elmdon Road, the village hall trust has decided to pull the plug.
At a public meeting in January, members said that a number of options were being considered.
But Coun Alan Martin, chairman of the trust, admitted at the time that the financial situation “didn’t look good”.
Now it’s been announced that the hall will shut for good from July 27.
The building has been on the site since 1926, though the current brick-built premises dates from the 1970s.
