Mayor attends Solihull MS Society's fund raising strawberry tea

THE Solihull Branch of the MS Society organised a strawberry tea at Henley-in-Arden Golf and Country Club on Sunday, June 10 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

THE Solihull Branch of the MS Society organised a strawberry tea at Henley-in-Arden Golf and Country Club on Sunday, June 10 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull, Councillor Ken Hawkins and Mrs Janet Hawkins were in attendance. They were greeted by the branch chairman, Celia Richards and the Mayoress was presented with a bouquet by Emily Cooksey, the granddaughter of the organiser, Jackie Dawkes.

Over 100 people attended and the Mayor and Mayoress both spent a considerable amount of time talking to the members. The event was supported by the Solihull branch of Barclays Bank. The money raised by the event will be matched by Barclays as part of the Barclays community investment ‘Charity Begins at Work’ programme. Staff also sold raffle tickets.
