McDonalds employee assaulted at Shirley branch

A FAST food order just didn’t come fast enough for impatient Nathan Pye.

A FAST food order just didn’t come fast enough for impatient Nathan Pye.

For when McDonald’s employee Hemel Vaghela brought out his two orders from the Shirley drive-through branch of the American giant and apologised for his five-minute wait, Pye became aggressive and let fly with a stream of abuse.

He and the woman driver of the car he was in then set off, leaving Mr Vaghela to let out a curse in their wake.

On hearing this Pye, of Goldthorne Avenue, Sheldon, got out of the car and ran towards him, prosecutor Angla Hallan told Solihull magistrates.

“His right hand grabbed him round the neck very tightly. Mr Vaghela was terrified,” she said.

There was a struggle but it was only when someone in the car park beeped their horn did Pye let go and the couple sped off, added Ms Hallan.

The McDonalds worker reported the incident to his manager and police later arrested Pye, aged 33, for assault by beating.

Ms Hallan said the victim suffered pain in his neck and both wrists following the attack.

Pye admitted the attack but claimed it had been in response to Mr Vaghela being abusive toward him.

He will be sentenced on January 15.
