RETIRED policeman John Plimmer has penned a book about his memories of growing up in the region 50-60 years ago.

The ex-head of West Midlands CID, who lives in Meriden, has written Back Street Urchins - which propels the reader back to the days of terraced homes, teddy boys and choking smogs.

The humorous history of people enduring poverty and hardship with a touch of the Dunkirk Spirit is available at Amazon.com
