MERIDEN residents are eligible for cold weather payments as temperatures plummet, says local MP Caroline Spelman.
“The trigger is for the period 31/1/2012 to 6/2/2012 for the following postcode districts in Meriden constituency: B26, B36, B37, B40, B46, B90, B91, B92, B93, B94, CV4, CV5, CV7, CV8,” she said.
“Cold weather payments are made to certain recipients of income support. To ‘trigger’ the payments, the average temperature at a specified weather station must be recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. The scheme runs from November 1 to March 31.
“The payment of £25 is a fixed amount for each week of cold weather,” she added.
