An award-winning baby photography business in Meriden has become so popular that mums-to-be have been trying to book a shoot hours after taking a pregnancy test.
Victoria Doyle’s newborn baby photography business Blue Bean Photography has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with the talented photographer racking up 14 awards in the space of a year.
And while the 35-year-old mum of three draws the line at accepting bookings straight after her customers discovering they are expecting, she has now started taking bookings after the 12- week scan.
“There have been times where women have literally taken a pregnancy test and then called me,” Victoria said.
“It used to be 20 weeks but I was becoming so inundated with booking requests that I’ve lowered it to 12 weeks. I think people are just really keen on getting those first shots of their sleeping newborn.”
While Victoria makes her work look effortless, she told us it is a lot harder than it looks.
“Sometimes the babies will be asleep from the moment they come into the studio until they leave but with others it can be more difficult. If you could see the amount of shots I have to discard, you would see it’s not an easy task.
“Then there is the obvious responsibility of handling someone else’s newborn babies, who are only a couple of weeks old,” Victoria added.
Victoria trained in commercial photography before deciding the specialise in newborn photography.
She is also trained to the Baby and Newborn Photography Association standards. She has recently won a raft of award with organisations including The Guild and the Societies SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers).
“It’s the first year I have entered and was really pleased.”
Victoria’s favourite time of year for newborn photography is around Father’s Day, which is this Sunday.
“The baby, father photos are by far my favourite. I know it sounds a bit slushy but there’s just something about a guy’s face with his newborn.”
