Millennium walk milestone

AFTER years of planning and hard work, enthusiasts from a Solihull walking club have finished waymarking a 100-mile route.

The ‘Millennium Way’ takes in miles of beautiful countryside across the heart of England, and two teams from Solihull 41 Club finally completed the challenge this week.

Leading the team, which began its task in Middleton Cheney in Northamptonshire, was Chris Tayler. Chris, who lives in Knowle and has been actively involved with plotting the Millennium Way, this week met up with fellow 41 Club member Ralph Gibb, who was responsible for waymarking the western section starting in Pershore.

“It has been a big task over the summer but meeting up, appropriately, in Meriden, the centre of England, has made it all worthwhile,” said Chris.

“The clear identification of the route will help enormously to encourage walking groups and individuals alike to get real enjoyment.”
