MEET Milo, the kitten who was almost killed by a dog, but was reunited with his family thanks to a tiny silicon chip.
Nine-month-old Milo was attacked and badly injured a few weeks ago, suffering multiple injuries.
A neighbour had found the wounded pet and taken him straight to the Willow Veterinary Centre.
Because he had a chip, the vets were able to get in touch with his owners - the Jackson family.
Harpreet Jackson, from Shirley, has urged other animal-owners to get their pets micro-chipped.
“We took Milo in to be neutured and had the chip done there and then,” she said.
“It only cost £20 but it was well-worth it, so I’d definitely encourage other people to have it done with their animals.”
Vets were stunned that the kitten had survived the attack - his jaw had been fractured in four places.
Following major surgery, a metal frame was fitted around his mouth and will have to remain in place for two to three months.
“He seems to be on the mend now,” explained Harpreet, “it’s just a shame because he wants to go outside, but he’s not allowed at the moment.
“We’ll just be pleased when he’s fully recovered and the frame can be taken off.”
