Monarch expands services from Birmingham Airport

SCHEDULED leisure airline Monarch has announced a further expansion of its operations across the Midlands, with the launch of a new base at East Midlands Airport, and also growth of services from Birmingham International Airport.

SCHEDULED leisure airline Monarch has announced a further expansion of its operations across the Midlands, with the launch of a new base at East Midlands Airport, and also growth of services from Birmingham International Airport.

The airline will introduce a new base at East Midlands Airport from late summer 2012, and launch new flights to key leisure destinations across the Mediterranean, including Malaga, Alicante, Palma (Majorca), and Faro (Portugal). In addition, Monarch will be expanding operations from Birmingham International Airport with the introduction of additional flights on existing routes to Malaga, Alicante, Faro, Rome, and Palma, plus the addition of a new route to Barcelona. Commenting on the launch of a new base at East Midlands Airport, and the expansion of services from Birmingham International Airport, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George said: “In light of recent industry changes, opportunities have opened up in the market. The further expansion of our services from the Midlands will provide even more customers in the Midlands with greater choice and flexibility and will protect jobs at East Midlands Airport in the future.”
