A FORMER lorry driver who ‘loves the outdoors’ has returned from a successful fishing trip - with proof of some ‘monster’ catches!
Tony Tudor, aged 62, who lives in Haslucks Green Road returned home from Thailand after netting a huge catfish and some giant carp.
The fish, a Mekong catfish weighing about 100lb (just over seven stone) and several Siamese carp, were caught from the Gillhams Fishing Resort in Krabi.
What is more amazing is that the retired truck driver only started fishing properly a few years ago, after caring for his sick wife for many years.
“I started fishing again when I lost my wife three-and-a-half years ago - I cared for her for 13 years as she had leukaemia,” said Tony, whose biggest ever catch came two years ago with a 166lb Wells catfish.
“I just love the thrill and the fight of catching a monster fish - but I always give them a kiss and put them back in without hurting them!
“I sat down for years behind the wheel, so I love to get out and about now. I keep myself fit by walking, mountain biking and going to the gym a lot.”
