I READ your article on the proposed new marina at Lapworth (Solihull News) with some dismay. It appeared to have been written by the developer Jeff Mason!
Yes, the article mentioned the concern of residents of Lapworth and Hockley Heath, but no mention was made that not one person who attended the meeting supported Mr Mason’s development.
He constantly referred to the Chester Marina, but as the local parish council stated, he was not comparing apples with apples.
Your article never mentioned the pollution from diesel fumes that would come with such a development nor the constant traffic delivering diesel and waste disposal vehicles.
He was also questioned many times about his ‘environmental document’. The very name of the development as stated by Mr Mason - Sands Farm Marina - is a total misnomer. It has nothing to do with Sands Farm, the owner of which was present and objected to its use.
I would ask you to consider the views of the residents in the area, and those of the MPs involved before giving Mr Mason so much space.
Would it not have been appropriate to seek the views of one of the MPs? For example, Mrs Spelman has publicly declared that this development is unsuitable in Green Belt land and the problems in Wharf Lane.
