A SMITH’S Wood mum who is desperately trying to raise £7,000 for a life-changing piece of equipment for her 21-month-old daughter, has called on the help of the local community.
Charmaine Slade’s daughter, Anais, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis – a life threatening condition affecting the lungs and pancreas.
Everyday Anais must endure rigorous physiotherapy sessions to lessen the threat of infection, which could lead to lung disease.
Charmaine, aged 28, told us the aid of a ‘physio vest’ would cut down on the physiotherapy time, and allow Anais to undergo the procedure more comfortably.
However, Charmaine cannot get funding for the vest, which means she has been left with the unenviable task of raising the thousands of pounds herself.
She added: “I find it quite shocking that we are not eligible for any help.”
