MP Caroline Spelman has supported measures in Parliament aimed at forcing energy companies to publish information of tariffs on every bill.
Mrs Spelman said: “There has been a recent increase in households in energy poverty; that is families who spend more than 10 per cent of their income on their energy bills.
“Families should have more information about using energy efficiently and accessing the best tariff for their pattern of energy use. This is why I have supported an Early Day Motion calling for all energy companies to publish information on every bill showing whether families are on the cheapest tariff and if not, information on how much could be saved by switching tariffs. Such a simple measure could so easily lift many families out of fuel poverty.”
