LORELY Burt MP joined shoppers in backing Solihull Friends of the Earth's campaign for an UK energy revolution.
The environmental group is calling on Gordon Brown to stick to a promise to generate 15 per cent of energy from green sources by 2020.
The group asked passers-by to show their support by painting their message onto a 'graffiti wall' on the High Street The UK currently generates two per cent of energy from renewable energy sources.
Mrs Burt said: "At a time when the planet's fossil fuels are running out, and those we have left are literally costing the Earth, renewable energy is the only safe, sustainable way to meet our energy needs for the future."
Tim Atkinson, Solihull Friends of the Earth group spokesperson, said: "We are delighted Lorely Burt has joined the energy revolution. Rising energy bills and the threat of climate change means generating green energy from renewable sources such as the wind, sun, waves and tides has never made more sense for our wallets and for the planet."
